The local prosecutor has opened an investigation against three Germans who, as members of a German Army infantry company, shot 250 Jews in a village near Smolensk during the 1941 German advance into Russia.
The commanding officer of the company held a teaching appointment in a nearby town until he was suspended this week. The First Sergeant is at present still a policeman at Freiburg in Baden, where the police last year brutally maltreated students demonstrating against the showing of a film by Jew-baiting film producer Veit Harlan.
