Gov. Adlai Stevenson, Democratic nominee for President, has pointedly avoided indorsing for re-election to Congress Rep. Francis E. Waiter, of Pennsylvania, co-sponsor of the McCarran-Waiter Immigration, Act which the Democratic Presidential candidate has sharply criticized.

Rep. Waiter, a Democratic, is running for his eighth term in Congress. He boarded Gov. Stevenson’s campaign train yesterday when it stopped at Lehighton, Pa., but the Presidential nominee, contrary to his custom at whistle-stops, never mentioned Walter’s name when he urged his audience to back the Democratic Party, although he mentioned the names of other Democratic candidates.
