A guide for community observation of the 150th birthday of the Bill of Rights was issued today by Citizenship Educational Service and its affiliated organizations. The booklet, a sixty-eight page syllabus entitled “The 150th Anniversary of the Bill of Rights” was prepared especially for the 300,000 local units of the twenty national organizations which constitute Citizenship Educational Service. Its purpose is to serve as a guide book and outline of procedure for activities planned for “Bill of Rights Week,” December 8-15.
The New York climax to the nation-wide celebration of the 150th anniversary of the adoption of the Bill of Rights will take place at a luncheon, December 15, Bill of Rights Day at the Hotel Commodore when civic organizations, educators, patriotic societies and other individuals and groups will join in a dedicatory ceremony under the auspices of the Sesquicentennial Committee. Speakers will include Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt; Ex-Ambassador to Mexico, Josephus Daniels; Mayor Fiorella H. LaGuardia and Hon. George Gordon Battle. Herbert Bayard Swope, chairman of the Committee will preside.
