Habimah, Israel’s foremost theater, rejected today a demand by the Board of Film and Theater Censorship that it refrain from playing “The Good Life,” a drama by a Belgian playwright, Felician Marceau, whom the board accused of cooperation with the Nazis over a period of 15 years.
The Habimah management announced it has no intention of withdrawing “The Good Life,” which was scheduled for its Israeli premiere tonight. “We will not change our plans,” the management stated, “since we have information that Marceau was cleared four years ago of the charges of cooperation with the Nazis.”
