An agreement was reached today between Hadassah and the Israeli Ministry of Health and the Jerusalem municipality to end a lengthy dispute over transfer of Hadassah community health services in Jerusalem.
The agreement provides for the transfer of the clinics, welfare centers, school hygiene and dental services to the city starting next October. Hadassah will make an annual contribution to the municipality for the next four years to assist in operating the services.
The initial offer of the facilities was rejected by the municipality which said it lacked funds to operate the services. The services have an annual budget of $330,000. Today’s agreement was reached while leading figures in Hadassah are present in the country, some of them as delegates to the sessions of the Zionist Actions Committee. Other Hadassah leaders are here as members of a delegation sent to participate in the dedication yesterday of a mother-child pavilion at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical Center.
