The transfer of Philip Halsmann to penal servitude was accompanied by moving scenes. With tears in their eyes, his mother, sisters, rabbis and counsel for the defense, as well as various Christian professors who had interested themselves in the case, came to say good-bye. Halsmann himself cried and appealed to them to continue the efforts for his vindication.
