Unity negotiations between the Hashomer Hatzair and the Mapai (Palestine Labor Party), which have been proceeding for some time at the initiative of David Ben Gurion, brok off when they were almost at a successful termination as a result of the Hashomer Hatzair’s refusal to go along on the question of partition, it was reported today. Although the two groups had agreed on a number of internal matters such as the question of terror and Histadruth problems, the ### Hatzair balked at signing the agreement when the Mapal refused to withdraw its support of partition.
