A proposal to establish a Hebrew Academy in conjunction with the Hebrew University, and a statement urging assembled journalists to do their utmost for the Hebrew University, featured the press conference of Jewish journalists held at the Hebrew University recently. Dr. J. L. Magnes, president of the university, suggested that all Jewish scientists and scholars would become members and that the Academy would be of great help in combating anti-Semitism. The Hebrew poet, C. N. Bialik, who addressed the conference, said that the Hebrew University should be the center of the Jewish brain and heart.
