Hebrew Teachers Strike Ended in Palestine; Demands Granted

January 28, 1929
See Original Daily Bulletin From This Date

The threatened strike of the teachers in the Palestine Hebrew schools maintained by the Zionist Executive was averted Friday.

The Zionist Executive fulfilled all the demands of the Merkaz Ha’morim, the teachers organization.

The strike was decided upon because of the failure of the Executive to pay the teachers’ salaries for November and to pay up the three months’ salaries still outstanding for 1927.

Miss Henrietta Szold, American member of the Jerusalem Executive, who is in charge of the education department, negotiated the settlement.
