A new million-dollar medical institution was dedicated here in honor of the late Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Silberberg, of Bayonne, New Jersey, by Kupat Holim, the nationwide health service sponsored by Histadrut, the Israel labor federation. The honor was bestowed upon the couple who had left a be quest of $443,000 for welfare and medical activities in Israel through the American Histadrut Development Foundation, according to an announcement by Dr. Sol Stein, national executive director.
The five-story health unit, to be known as the Yetty and Solomon Silberberg Medical Center, will care for 3,000 patients daily, and will serve a population of over 160,000 in the three towns of Ramat Gan, Bnai Brak and Givataim. Mr. Sillerberg, who died in 1948, and Mrs. Silberberg, who died in 1961, lived in Bayonne for more than 60 years. They were active in communal affairs and supported many Jewish religious, educational and philanthropic causes. The residue of their estate was assigned to welfare purposes in the State of Israel, where many members of the Silberberg family reside.
