The ring of steel that Herr Hitler and his Nazi demagogues have thrown about themselves is momentarily expected to turn on the Fuehrer, throw him and his policies into the discard, establish a military dictatorship and before the year is out restore the monarchy with Kaiser Wilhelm on the throne.
That is the picture painted for a London Daily Herald correspondent at Doom, Holland, by a member of the former Kaiser’s official family. According to this correspondent, German army leaders, particularly those identified as “old-line Prussian” officers whose affection for and loyalty to Wilhelm has never dimmed, have joined hands with the Junker class, whose strongest and most popular representative is the Col. von Papen who early this week startled the world with his speech that defied the Hitler policy of muzzling criticism.
The affiliation of these two influential factors in the Reich, the Herald informant stated, was definitely for the purpose of swaying President von Hindenburg to remove Adolf Hitler from the chancellorship into which he more than a year ago placed him.
THE GOAL IS CLOSE
That this goal is closer to achievement than most people believe was the avowed belief of the ex-Kaiser’s associate. He placed Hitler’s downfall, “on the basis of information received here,” at some time this coming winter.
