Holland Adopts Attitude of “watchful Waiting” on Recognition of Israel, Minister Says

The Netherlands Government has had no occasion to recognize Israel and has adopted an attitude of “watchful waiting” because of the complicated Palestine situation, Foreign Minister D.V. Stikker told the Dutch Parliament at The Hague today.

A barter agreement between Israel and Holland is nearing completion, it was learned here today. The agreement has been negotiated notwithstanding the fact that Holland has not yet recognized the Jewish state.
