Hundreds of U.S. Jewish Troops in Palestine for New Year; Pilgrims Flock to Jerusalem

Three-hundred Jewish officers and men of the U.S. Army, who were brought here in giant transport planes from various parts of the Middle East joined with the Yishuv and the recently arrived refugees from Europe in celebrating Palestine’s first peace time Rosh Hashonah.

Other groups of American serviceman stationed in Italy, France, and even Belgium are expected to arrive here during the coming holiday week. A train bearing 1,000 British soldiers, including members of the Jewish Brigade arrived yesterday from Egypt. From all parts of the country thousands of pilgrims have descended upon Jerusalem to hail the new year here.
