A $100,000 contribution for the construction of a labor center in Israel was presented by the International Ladies Garment Workers’ New York Cloak Joint Board to the American Trade Union Council of the Israel Histadrut Campaign, at a luncheon today at the Hotel McAlpin, honoring Israel Feinberg, general manager of the Joint Board.

In making the presentation, Mr. Feinberg hailed the achievemenets of the Jewish state and emphasized the importance of mobilizing the international labor movement behind it. He characterized the “heroic efforts” of the Israel people to provide a “second economic basis for hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees. Israel is entitled to the support of the democratic nations of the world, as an ally in our struggle against totalitarianism, and not as a philanthropic gesture,” he added.
