“The amount of economic prejudice associated in this country with anti-Catholicism and anti-Semitism is disgracefully great,” Dr. James G. Smith, professor of Economics and Social Institutions at Princeton University, declared here yesterday addressing the Institute of Human Relations sponsored by the National Conference of Christians and Jews.
Dr. Sigmund Livingston, chairman of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, told the conference that racial and religious prejudice will not be stamped out until there is a unified, concerted campaign by churches, newspapers and leaders of public thought. Other speakers included Dr. A.A. Roback, psychologist and author of “A Dictionary of International Slurs;” and Dr. Robert McElroy, a former professor of American history at Oxford University.
