The foreign minister of Iran says he opposes any peace agreements between Moslem states and Israel.

Ali Akbar Velayati, asked at a news conference here if he favored peace talks between Israel and Syria after the Persian Gulf war ended, not only spoke against ties between Moslem states and Israel but said his country would retaliate if Israel were to enter the war.

He would not say what Teheran’s position might be if Israel retaliated against an Iraqi chemical weapons attack.
