Israel is a “bright and shining star of the 20th century,” Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told an audience of hundreds at the Religious Action Center’s Consultation on Conscience conference. At the end of a speech Monday mostly criticizing the Bush administration’s budget proposals, the House Minority leader also said Israel and America share a “common heritage” and both countries were “built by pioneers and replenished by immigrants.”
