Israel Maritime Day Celebrated for First Time in U.s.; over 20 Groups Participate

pIsrael Maritime Day was observed for the first time in the United States today at a celebration arranged by the American Fund for Israel Institutions which supports the Israel Maritime League, dedicated to the promotion of maritime activities in the Jewish state.

More than 20 national Zionist and youth organizations Joined in the celebration, which was presided over by Commander Joshua L, Goldberg, USNR, Speakers included Edward A. Norman, president of the American Fund, Arthur Liverhant, secretary of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, and Mattathias Hindes, member of the Israel Maritime League executive council. Among the programs conducted by the Israel Maritime league are nautical instruction, sea fishery research, maintenance of seamen’s home in Tel Aviv and Haifa and swimming training.
