The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra is taking Australia by storm. Its gala concert in Canberra yesterday, under the baton of Zubin Mehta, received rave reviews in the Australian press, according to the IPO management here.
Shlomo Mintz was the solo violinist at the concert in the Australian capital which was attended by, among others, Prime Minister Bob Hawke, members of his Cabinet and most of the foreign envoys accredited to Australia.
The IPO, currently touring Australia, will fly to Los Angeles at the end of this month for a concert in the Hollywood Bowl in memory of the Israeli athletes murdered by terrorists at the 1972 Olympics in Munich.
