President Itzhak Ben Zvi today slowed the pace of his consultations with leaders of Israel’s political parties for the formation of a new government. The President deferred till tomorrow his meeting with the National Religious Party leaders. Consultations with leaders of other groups will take place after the week-end.
Thus far the President has been met in his talks with indications of non-support of proposed suggestions for the solution of the government crisis. These suggestions proposed formation of a “minority government” composed of Mapai and the Progressive Party, or of a Cabinet which would include parties now in the opposition. In view of the stalemate, it is most likely that the present caretaker government would carry on till after the November national elections.
