The Jewish National Workers Alliance weekend parley which concluded here last night hoard Israeli Minister to the U.S., Eliahu Epstein, declare that “the Provisional Government of Israel accepted the truce in Palestine because, as a creature of the United Nations, it respects the mandate of the international tribunal.”
“Israel is prepared for any eventuality,” he declared, “although we enter into the truce with the desire to see a permanent peace established in Palestine. I the Arabs will renew fighting they will find the Israeli Army ready. We are confident that the chain of victories of the past week can be continued if the Arabs insist on a military decision.”
Louis Segal, general secretary of the Alliance, reported that during the past fiscal year the organization raised more than $4}000,000 for the National Committee for Labor Palestine, the United Jewish Appeal., the Jewish National Fund and other Zionist and relief funds, A membership drive with a quota of 35,000 new members was also announced and will be launched in September.
