Israel should reach out to the African American community, a black Christian broadcaster said. The Rev. Glenn Plummer made his comments over the weekend while visiting Israel.

France’s foreign minister is to visit the Middle East next week but will skip Israel. Michel Barnier’s trip to the region, his first since becoming foreign minister in March, will include meetings with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, King Abdullah II of Jordan and Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat. However, Barnier will not visit Israel during the trip, a decision said to be linked to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s refusal to meet him if he meets Arafat.
