Israel Stand on Suspension of U.S. Aid Indicated

Israel will not react to the United States Government decision to withhold economic assistance from Israel since it is the right of the U.S. Government either to grant or not to grant aid, informed political circles said here today.

These circles stressed that it is obvious that by its action, the U.S. Government is attempting to “buy” the Arabs, something which the British Government unsuccessfully attempted to do once before. The withholding of aid for political reasons points to a desire to force a political surrender, these sources insisted, but added that history has shown that states faced with this sort of a situation reveal “hidden forces” which enable them to withstand hardship.
