The Cabinet today began discussions on a recommendation by a Ministerial Committee favoring a proposal by the Rothschild Group, offering to establish an educational television network in Israel.

In spite of the Committee’s unanimous support of the project, Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion was reportedly opposed to the plan, on the grounds that it would open the door to television broadcasting of entertainment programs. Decision on the project was postponed until next week’s Cabinet meeting, when Education Minister Abba Eban will have returned from a visit to the United States. Mr. Eban is expected to support the project.
