Israeli security forces, after uncovering a terrorist cell whose members allegedly throw Molotov cocktails at army patrols, blew up two houses in West Bank villages Tuesday night and sealed off a third.
According to military sources, a large Israel Defense Force detachment entered Ras-Karkar and Jiniya villages west of Ramallah. The house of Ziad Hassan Yussuf was demolished in Jiniya.
Yussuf allegedly threw a gasoline bomb at a military jeep on June 8, seriously burning two reserve soldiers, Moshe Nussbaum and Rami Levron. They are still hospitalized.
In Ras-Karkar, the IDF destroyed the house of Mutia Abdul Fatah Nofel and Mahmoud Rashid Nofel. It sealed off the house of Abdul Salah Abdul Kahir.
The three are suspected of firebomb attacks on IDF patrols in March and May. Mutia Nofel, allegedly a member of Nayef Hawatme’s Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine. is accused of recruiting friends to attack Israeli soldiers.
Tension continued to run high in East Jerusalem, meanwhile, as Palestinian youths stoned an Egged bus bound for the Neve Yaakov neighborhood. The driver and a woman passenger were slightly injured.
Another Egged bus was stoned on Saladin street, the main thoroughfare in East Jerusalem but no one was hurt.
