A 7,500-ton Israeli freighter, the Hadar of Haifa, equipped with built-in components recommended by the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority, has arrived in Montreal harbor on her maiden voyage, and is expected to be joined by her three new sister ships during the season for a role in the Canadian lakes trade.

Her sister ships, the Etrog, Eshkol and Jaffa, will be identical in construction. The four vessels represent a $16,000,000 investment by American-Israeli Shipping Company, Ltd. The Hadar’s cargo, unloaded in Montreal, included marble, acids, glassware, iron fittings and other general material. Also in the cargo was canned Jaffa orange juice, making its first entry into the Canadian market.
