Gen. Mordechai Makleff, 32-year-old Vice Chief of Staff of the Israeli armed forces and one of the youngest officers in the Jewish state, arrived yesterday aboard the Queen Elizabeth for a two-month visit to American military schools and installations. He told reporters that the armistice between Israel and the Arabs was “stable but not improving” and added that Syria has purchased two jet aircraft from the British, with six more on order. Israel has none, he said.
