Israeli officials moved to dispel a false report that a right-wing rabbi had authorized settlers to fire on non-Jewish troops who come to evacuate them from their homes. “There was never a ruling, so this is not an issue,” Border Police chief Hussein Fares told reporters March 3, after Beduin and Druse servicemen expressed concern that they could be in danger.
