Israeli opposition leader Ehud Barak launched his campaign for the premiership one day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced he may call next week for early elections. Barak accused Netanyahu of capitulating to his right-wing coalition when he announced a freeze on implementation of the Wye accord. Barak also said he would divert money now spent on settlements and earmark it for education, health and fighting unemployment.
