Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon reportedly plans to meet with the new Palestinian Authority prime minister. The meeting is one of several confidence-building measures Israel plans to boost the standing of Mahmoud Abbas after the new Palestinian government is installed, the Israeli daily Ha’aretz reported. An Israeli delegation headed by Sharon’s chief of staff, Dov Weisglass, presented the list of measures to U.S. officials last week.
