Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak welcomed the strong showing by reformers in Iran’s parliamentary elections, but said it was too early to tell if the vote would mean a new direction in Tehran’s anti-Israeli foreign policy. “This is an internal and historic struggle within Iran,” Barak was quoted as saying. At the same time, he said, Iran continues a policy of “encouraging terrorism” and “seeking nuclear capability.”
