Israel’s ambassador to Mauritania said all was well despite a military coup there. “The embassy is open and operating, but we are staying inside the embassy. We are avoiding going out,” Boaz Bismuth told Israel’s Yediot/Ynet news site in an interview from Nouakchott, where troops staged a coup Wednesday while the president, Maaouya Ould Sid’Ahmed Taya, was attending the funeral of Saudi King Fahd.
