Israel’s ambassador to the United States will visit Jonathan Pollard, a diplomatic first that the convicted spy has been seeking for years. In the United States last week for a summit with President Bush, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told Ambassador Daniel Ayalon to arrange the visit with Pollard, a former Navy analyst sentenced in 1987 to life in prison for spying for Israel. The visit could come within weeks, an Israeli official told JTA.
