Israel’s consul-designate to Australia withdrew his candidacy after reports resurfaced of a sex scandal during a previous posting. Though Arie Scher was never charged with a crime, Australian Jewish leaders let Israel’s ambassador in Australia know that they were uncomfortable about the posting.
