Israel’s government embarked on a $100 million project to clean up a polluted Israeli river where four Australians died during the 1997 Maccabiah Games. The decision followed the final settlement of all claims made by 67 of the 350 athletes who were affected by the collapse of a bridge over the Yarkon River at the games’ opening ceremony.
