Israel’s religious parties protested a proposal by the Finance Ministry to legalize casino gambling in the Negev. Perhaps next “we’ll encourage prostitution and tax that business” as well, Health Minister Shlomo Benizri said Wednesday. The Finance Ministry made the proposal a day earlier to provide tax revenues and create jobs in the economically depressed Negev.
