Israel’s state-owned Oil Refineries said it received a $1.7 million compensation payment from Iraq via the United Nations for shutting down its ethylene plant during the 1991 Gulf War. The compensation covers loss of revenues from closing the plant for several months, a move taken out of fear of an Iraqi missile attack.
