German S.S. Major Ludwig Schnitholzer, known as the Butcher of the Jews” during the Nazi occupation, has been arrested by Italian police in the South Tyrol, it was reported today. One of the many crimes charged against ##chnitholzer is the deportation of 24 Jews from Merano and the looting of their property. The deportees were never heard of again.
