Italy gave its support for a Palestinian state. Italian President Carlo Ciampi joined a growing number of European leaders when he voiced his support for the creation of a Palestinian state. Speaking during an official visit to Tunisia, Ciampi said “the time was right” for such a state as long as Israel’s security is guaranteed.
