It was announced officially today that Rear Admiral Aldo Ascoli, Jewish commander of the Italian naval forces in the Aegean, has been relieved of his command and replaced by rear admiral Giuseppe Lombardi. Withdrawal of admiral ascoli is the second in line with the government’s anti-Jewish policy. He follows into retirement Admiral Paoli Maroni, who was removed from his command of the Fourth Naval Division last week.
