A proposal that West Germany be equipped with long-range weapons armed with American nuclear warheads was attacked here today by the national policy committee of the Jewish War Veterans in a statement issued after a policy meeting.

The statement, commenting on a suggestion by a member of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, said America should cooperate in defense of West Germany and Europe but retain possession and control of nuclear weapons to prevent escalation and proliferation. “Let us not forget that twice in this century, German militarists unleashed visciously irresponsible wars of aggression, ” the statement stressed.
