Unknown persons today smeared with blue paint and oil Jacob Epstein’s famous Hyde Park statue of “Rima,” central character in W. H. Hudson’s “Green Mansions.”

The vandalism was the second committed against an Epstein work in the past few days, the noted sculptor’s “Day,” which stands in front of London’s transport headquarters, having been daubed with paint last Friday. The ultra-modernistic works of the noted New York-born sculptor have long been the center of critical storms and have frequently been made the target of vandals.
