A dispute between this city and Jewish suburbs seeking annexation to Tel Aviv led today to hand-to-hand fighting between Arab street cleaners and Yemenite Jewish women who tried to bar their entrance to the Yemenite quarter. British police intervened, arresting eight Jewesses and three Jews. District Officer Azmin Nashashibi threatened to impose a collective fine on the quarter unless the Jews ceased their resistance.
