Japan Demands Equal Trade Rights in Palestine, Syria

Although no longer a member of the League of Nations, Japan insists on equal commercial privileges in the League’s mandated territories, especially Palestine and Syria, the Mandates Commission was informed today by Nobubumi Ito, Japan’s “courtesy representative” at Geneva.

Japan’s “dumping” of products into Palestine has been protested by industrial interests in that country. Because of the Japanese low-price competition in the silk-manufacturing field, several factories have been forced to close their doors recently while many others face like prospects.
