Jassy, Rumania, has been the scene of repeated anti-Semitic outrages by “a brutal and unscrupulous minority,” declares G.E.R. Gedye, New York Times correspondent, in a dispatch from Kishinev, the fourth of a series on Rumania. In Bessarabia he found the spirit of the Jews firmer.

Charles A. Davila, former Rumanian Minister to the United States, sailing yesterday on the Conte di Savoia, said the current anti-Semitic campaign was “just a passing phase.” No program based on intolerance can bring a solution of the minority problem, he said. Meanwhile, some 500 Communists demonstrated in Columbus Circle and picketed the Rumanian consulate in protest against Rumanian anti-Semitism.
