Rabbi Eliyahu Pardess, 64-year-old chief rabbi of the Sephardic community of Ramat Gan, was elected here today as chief Sephardic rabbi of Jerusalem. The post has ben vacant since the death, in 1955, of the late Chief Rabbi H. Shabbetai.
