A list of 52 Arab truce violations in the Jerusalem area during the last three days was today submitted “by the Israeli military governor, Dr. Bernard Joseph, to American Consul General John J. MacDonald, who is also chairman of the U.N. Consular Truce Commission. Simultaneously, the Israeli military authorities reported that Ramath Rachel, northern Talpioth and the Mea Shearim quarter were shelled by the Arabs.

The ineffectiveness of U.N. action on Jerusalem was emphasized this afternoon by Israeli military commander for the city, Col. Moshe Dayan, who addressed a press conference, following a request from the U.N. mediator that Israeli troops should be withdrawn from the Jewish Girls Farm School which is located in the Red Cross zone.

Pointing out that United Nations observers had not reacted to the constant Arab violations of the Jerusalem truce, but had termed the Jewish “protective action” in reoccupying the girls school a “flagrant violation”, Col. Dayan stated that the Israelis took over the school after the Egyptians failed to respond to a U.N. proposal to establish a neutral belt around the Red Cross Zone.
