The Jewish Association for the Protection of Girls and Women receives a large bequest under the will of the late lady Battersea, daughter of Sir Anthony de Rothschild, who died at the end of last month. Lady Battersea, who was Vice-President and Honorary Secretary of the Association, left £10,000 between Cromer Hospital (she lived in Cromer), the Metropolitan Hospital, the Jewish Association for the Protection of Girls and Women, and the Jewish Board of Guardians. She left another £3,000 to the Jewish Association for the Protection of Girls and Women, and £500 to the Jewish Board of Guardians.
The Pleasuance and her North property is left in trust for Rose Marie de Rothschild on attaining 25 years of age.
There are various legacies to hospitals and friends, including a gilt and jewelled cabinet with the inscription “From Charles I. to Henrietta Maria”, bequeathed to Queen Mary. The residue of the Property is left between Lady Battersea’s cousins, Lionel Nathan de Rothschild and Anthony Gustave Rothschild, who have been granted probate of the will.
Lady Battersea left her MSS, letters and correspondence and £300 to Miss Lucy Cohen, to go through them and destroy all such as she thinks ought not to be preserved.
