Establishment of a new clinical research institute at Mt. Sinai Hospital to be known as the Shirley and Maurice Saltzman Institute for Clinical Research, has followed a record gift of $1, 000, 000 by the couple. Announcement of the gift and the new Institute was made today by Max Freedman, Mt. Sinai president, at a special meeting of the Board.
The gift, the largest in the institution’s history, is expected to exert a positive effect upon every aspect of its medical program. Mr. Saltzman is a trustee of Mt, Sinai Hospital, a vice-president of The Jewish Community Federation, and was recently appointed a fellow at Brandeis University.
