A number of Jewish organizations, as well as the Movement Against Racism and anti-Semitism and the Organization of Deportees, announced pledges today to help defend France against the French rebels in Algeria threatening the de Gaulle Government in Paris.

The organizations held emergency meetings and called upon all their members and supporters to oppose “by all means” the threatened invasion of Metropolitan France. Many Jews also joined the voluntary militia organized here last night and today to help regular militia and police forces defend Paris if necessary.
